Effect of Caffeic Acid Phenethyl Ester on Gingival Tissue Inflammation in Experimental Periodontitis: Experimental Study

نویسندگان

چکیده

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the anti-inflammatory effect of two different dosages caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE) on lipopolysaccharide-induced experimental periodontitis (EP). Material and Methods: Forty Sprague Dawley rats were randomly divided into four groups: control, EP, EP treated with 5 μmol/kg/day CAPE (EP+CAPE 5), 10 10). Followed by was administered intraperitoneally EP+CAPE groups for 28 days. Samples investigated biochemically using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kit alveolar bone loss measured morphometrically. Results: In both groups, levels interleukin-1 beta tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) in gingiva significantly lower than those group (p<0.001). The decrease tissue TNF-α greater a dose-dependent manner. Serum analysis cytokines showed no significant difference between groups. Conclusion: Within limits this study, is claimed be novel agent improving results periodontal therapy. may valuable as alternative host modulating treatment disease.

Background. The aim of the study was to analyse the effect of caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE) on fluoxetine-induced hepatotoxicity in rats. Materials and Methods. Group I served as control. Group II received CAPE intraperitoneally. Group III received fluoxetine per orally. Group IV received fluoxetine and CAPE. The total antioxidant capacity (TAC), total oxidant status (TOS), oxidative stre...

Protective Effect of Caffeic Acid Phenethyl Ester (CAPE) on Amiodarone-Induced Pulmonary Fibrosis in Rat

Treatment with amiodarone, a commonly prescribed antidysrhythmic agent, is associated with pulmonary fibrosis (PF) which is a commonly progressive and untreatable dieases. Caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE) is a phenolic antioxidant and an active anti-inflammatory, anticancer, antimicrobial and antioxidant component of propolis (bee glue; a resinous hive product collected by honey bees). In th...
